Title: The Promise of Eternal Life
Scripture: John 3:16-17
The promise of eternal life is a central theme throughout the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, we see God’s love for us and his desire for us to have eternal life. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
Eternal life is not just living forever, but it is a quality of life that is found in a relationship with God. Jesus said in John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Eternal life is knowing God and having a personal relationship with him through Jesus Christ.
The promise of eternal life gives us hope and comfort in the midst of life’s challenges and difficulties. We know that this life is not all there is, and that we have a hope that extends beyond this world. Revelation 21:4 says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” This is the promise of eternal life that we have in Jesus Christ.
So today, let us remember the promise of eternal life that we have in Jesus Christ. Let us know him and walk in relationship with him, and let us have hope and comfort in the midst of life’s challenges, knowing that we have a hope that extends beyond this world.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the promise of eternal life that we have in Jesus Christ. Help us to know you and to walk in relationship with you, and to have hope and comfort in the midst of life’s challenges. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
