Title: Growing in Empathy
Introduction: Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves and to bear one another’s burdens. Developing empathy can help us to be more compassionate and loving toward others.
Scripture: “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” (Romans 12:15)
Prayer:
Dear God, we pray that you would help us to grow in empathy. Give us hearts that are open to the pain and suffering of others. Help us to understand their feelings and to be present with them in their struggles.
Teach us how to listen with compassion and to offer words of comfort and encouragement. Help us to bear one another’s burdens, just as you have commanded us to do.
We pray for those who are hurting and in need of comfort. May they feel your presence and love in their lives, and may we be a source of comfort and hope to them.
We pray for those who are struggling to show empathy toward others. May they be filled with your love and compassion, and may they be empowered to love others as you have loved us.
Thank you for your example of love and compassion, and for showing us what it means to bear one another’s burdens. May we always be guided by your love and filled with empathy for those around us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
Conclusion: As we grow in empathy, we become better equipped to love and serve others. May we always remember to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn, and to bear one another’s burdens as Christ has commanded us to do.
